Fairfield Mayor Mike Dreith says he is seeking help from civic groups willing to help with Renew Fairfield, a consolidated effort to clean up the City. It will be held on April 23rd, and the mayor says he needs people willing to volunteer to paint houses, as well as ideas for what houses need work. Appearing on the Community Connection, he says Renew Fairfield will include a variety of offerings outside of the painting including paper and electronics recycling and taking large-items at the Street and Bridge Department. The Fairfield City Council will meet tonight at 6 at City Hall. Aldermen are set to approve the seeking of bids for the construction of a new water tower and the demolition of the existing tower downtown, per Mayor Dreith. He says the new tower will hold about 300,000 gallons of water. He also says it is conceivable the entire project could be completed in 14 to 16 months. The first installment of Wayne County Property Tax Bills is due October 29th, according to county Treasurer Donna Masterson. The second installment is due November 29th. The total amount to be collected this year is $19,118,774.94. A breakdown of where that money will go can be found below. Lora Smith has been selected as the new Executive Director of the Greater Wabash Regional Planning Commission, which serves Crawford, Edwards, Lawrence, Richland, Wabash, Wayne, and White counties. Smith will be responsible for the management of all planning and administrative tasks for the Commission, and she comes to it with experience in grants and higher education. The Fairfield PaintOut is accepting up to 10 photos per person of county scenery for this fall’s PaintOut. Artists will choose one photo to recreate in a painting that will be available at the art show and sale in October, and any photographer with a photo chosen will receive $20 in Chamber Bucks, with a limit of three per person.
