The death of Thomas "Tank" McAuliffe is only the most recent in a string of tragedies at Sterling Stamping and other Detroit area auto plants during the pandemic.
A worker said that rather than send workers home to allow them time to grieve, management actually increased the speed of the production line following McAuliffe’s death.
Sanoh America’s Findlay, Ohio, facility had one-third of its workforce contract the virus and two deaths. OSHA slapped it with a paltry fine of $26,527 as the price of doing business.
While official case numbers are for the most part being tightly guarded by management and the UAW, available information points to a continuing surge of COVID cases in auto plants.
