Who Do You See? - Angie Redmond at the Freeport Art Museum

The Freeport Art Museum is pleased to present the work of Angie Redmond, a recent Master of Fine Arts graduate from Northern Illinois University. Redmond’s figurative paintings are full of energetic color and brushwork which emphasizes the complexities of human emotions and behavior. Her paintings of friends, family, and strangers focus on the beauty of just being, uncluttered by all the various identities that may be adopted by them or attached to them by others. Addressing social change and justice, she wishes her work to emphasize peace and to speak to all, respecting differences, and honoring similarities. <br/><br/>Angie's artwork has been shown nationally in various museums, galleries, and universities (including Governor’s State University, University of Illinois at Chicago, and Northern Illinois University) ranging from Chicago, New York City, Miami, and Michigan. Kendall Collins life.
I ve been drawing since even before I can remember, he says. I still have a bunch of sketchbooks from elementary, middle and high school, so it s been a progression for the majority of my life.
The Western Michigan University student has come a long way from sketching on notebook paper, finding his artwork now on display at the largest science center in the Western Hemisphere. Not one but two of Collins original pieces were selected from entries from across the country for the Chicago Museum of Science and Industry s Black Creativity Juried Art Exhibition the longest running exhibition of African-American art.
