Black pastors partner with Chesapeake hospital to give out 2,000 vaccine doses

Black pastors partner with Chesapeake hospital to give out 2,000 vaccine doses Gordon Rago, The Virginian-Pilot © Kaitlin McKeown/Virginia Media/The Virginian-Pilot/TNS Volunteer Rodney Solomon directs traffic outside a COVID-19 vaccination clinic at Bethany Baptist Church on Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2021, in Chesapeake, Va. If Bishop Kevin White had 10,000 COVID-19 vaccine doses to give, it probably still wouldn’t be enough to meet the type of demand he was getting. For now, 2,000 will have to do. That’s how many will be handed out during a two-day clinic that kicked off Tuesday in South Norfolk, an event aimed at helping the neighborhood’s elderly Black residents get access to the coronavirus vaccine. The event, happening at Bethany Baptist Church, is not a walk-up clinic but is open to anyone who falls under the current state eligibility guidelines, even if they’re not a member of the congregation. Appointments were made by pre-registering people.
