Congregations emphasize safety for second COVID-addled Easter

For Fraser, the rapid loosening and re-tightening of restrictions on religious gatherings didn’t have much of an affect on Easter plans in his congregation. As he put it, church leaders decided prior to restriction changes that they would still hold services for Easter Sunday and the surrounding holy days via live streams.
“We had no thought that we might worship in person for Easter,” Fraser said. “We believe that … the most faithful response to this moment was to continue online only.”
Lisa Polk, the director of pastoral services with the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Regina, said the church was “disappointed” for the restrictions to tighten in Regina again, but understood and agreed that health and safety are paramount. ....
