Ann Arbor invites public to learn about $4.6M water system improvement project

ANN ARBOR, MI Ann Arbor officials are inviting residents to attend a virtual meeting to learn about proposed improvements for the city’s water treatment plant.
The improvement project would ensure delivery of safe and reliable water from the Huron River to the plant for treatment and distribution to water customers, officials said.
It consists of replacing valves and pipes considered critical for the reliability and operational control of the pump station by Barton Pond, where the city draws most of its drinking water, and air relief valves would be installed on 42-inch and 24-inch raw water pipelines, officials said.

ANN ARBOR – If you see some smoke around the Ann Arbor Skatepark in Veterans Memorial Park Thursday, don’t be alarmed.
The city’s Parks & Recreation has hired a contractor to conduct a controlled burn of native plants in the area from noon to 3 p.m. Trained personnel will be managing the burn, which will be under control at all times.
Burns are conducted to restore the health of natural ecosystems and the Spring 2021 Controlled Ecological Burn season began on Feb. 19 and ends on May 29.
