At approximately 1:30 p.m. on July 26, deputies responded to a medical call at a rental cabin in Lake Bemidji State Park and found Matthew Skarperud, 48, originally of Grand Forks, N.D., dead inside an enclosed porch. There were no obvious signs of trauma or suspicious circumstances.
