The Independent Planning Commission has rejected the application of the Dendrobium mine expansion saying the project risked irreversible damage to Sydneyâs drinking water (âBarilaro rakes IPC over coals on mine rulingâ, February 6-7). Deputy Premier John Barilaro, not happy with this outcome, wants to shoot the umpire, overturn the result and disband the IPC, leaving the decision to the experts in NSW Planning (who deemed the mines âapprovableâ last year) before any serious environmental investigation took place.
