Referencing, also said in the courtroom that bill cosby is asking to be treated differently and that s not appropriate. he said he s asking for speshlt treatment. he wants the comforts of his home. any way that he s going to be afforded the comforts of his home, danny? it s possible. the idea is this. if you have strong appealable issues and your crime isn t considered serious and you re a threat to others, sometimes a court will let you remain out on house arrest or some other kind of home confinement while you appeal. i don t think that s very likely in this case, even though i think cosby has some decent appealable issues. number one, of course, is the unexplained allowing of five witnesses as opposed to one in the first trial with no real explanation. the other is using his deposition transcript in a civil case that he believed would never be used against him, against him in a criminal case. ....
So there are a number of appealable issues that can factor into whether or not a defendant is allowed out, pending an appeal. i don t think that s likely to happen in this case. and danny, give us an idea of what we re looking at right now. the court is in recess. what should we expect to happen next? should we expect to see bill cosby walk out of this door right here outside of the courtroom at any time today? we re looking at the doorway into that. every proceeding i ve ever been to in this courtroom for the cosby proceedings has been in that courtroom. i would expect they d transport him in and out either through the side doors, as they have on the left side there, or they would take him out for whatever reason out the main door. i don t believe they would parade him out through the front. there s an area in the back they can take him if they re going to hold him in custody. it all kpendepends on what the e ....
A sexually violent predator. again that, gives you a sense of how much is riding on this. of course, this is the first big conviction of the #metoo era. the judge had to be mindful of that. of course, he s supposed to focus on the facts of the case, but obviously he s aware of the times we live in and the significance of this case. but again, three to ten years. we expect cosby to be placed in handcuffs and taken to prison shortly. that was exactly my question. will he be immediately remanded or be given any leeway, any time to go home and gather himself? reporter: because it is state prison, it is my understanding that he will be taken directly to a county jail and processed and then to a state prison. right now technically he is free under house arrest under $1 million bond. that will be revoked. the prosecutors have been trying to get this revoked for a long time. because it s a sentence longer than two years and because he s going to a state prison, we think this is going to ha ....
Great weight to the victim impact testimony in this case and he called it powerful. and it was powerful. andrea constand put out a five-page impact statement. it powerful. she talked about the insurmou insurmountable stress and anxiety she suffered, the pain, angui anguish, the guilt, the confusion. now more than 60 other women have self-identified as sexual assault victims of bill cosby. his decades-long reign of terror as a serial rapist is over. that s part of what andrea constand wrote in this victim impact statement. that was a statement that the judge said was powerful and that he took into consideration when deciding what to do with bill cosby. he repeatedly called this a ....
Process. danny, jump in on that. what do you think? there s a lot there to jump in on. the brett kavanaugh case is nothing like the bill cosby case. the bill cosby case is a case. it s a criminal trial. and she s absolutely right. he was afforded the presumption of innocence, and the burden was always on the prosecution, and we evaluate the accuser, the victim, t victim s testimony. that is not the case in the kavanaugh hearing. the kavanaugh hearing is really a glorified job interview. but a job interview that is unfettered by any rules or laws when it comes to looking into someone s background. the rules are made by the senate, and they can do whatever they want with them. if the senate wants to delve into these issues for as long or as short as they want to, they can do that. culturally, there are many, many similarities. to call the cosby criminal trial anything similar to the brett kavanaugh hearing is ....
