KATHMANDU, Nepal A record-holding Sherpa climber halted his attempt to scale Mount Everest for a 26th time because of a bad dream but plans to try again next year.
Kami Rita already reached the summit of the world s highest mountain for a record 25th time earlier this month but stopped his most recent climb more than halfway to the top. ....

Coronavirus has reportedly infected at least 100 climbers and support staff on Mount Everest, despite Nepalese mountaineering officials claiming the opposite.
Expert Austrian climbing guide Lukas Furtenbach reported the tally to The Associated Press Saturday, noting that one of his foreign guides had tested positive for COVID-19, as had six Nepali Sherpa guides.
“I think with all the confirmed cases we know now confirmed from (rescue) pilots, from insurance, from doctors, from expedition leaders I have the positive tests so we can prove this,” he told the outlet. ....

Young people in Nepal are not alien to the thought although Nepal’s presence in space has not been recorded so far. For example, Dipesh Poudel always thought of space exploration to be something “very cool and exciting” when he saw it in movies. “I dreamt of being an astronaut, to reach the dark side of the moon.” With Curiosity and SpaceX’s mission to Mars, his desire to be an astronaut grew bigger.  ....
