Mohawk to Close Eden, North Carolina Carpet and Rug Mill Mohawk to Close Eden, North Carolina Carpet and Rug Mill Eden, NC, March 5, 2021 Mohawk will close its Eden, North Carolina manufacturing facility, which traditionally made Karastan rugs, according to WRAL Tech Wire. Mohawk filed a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) with the North Carolina Department of Commerce on March 3. More than 100 employees will be impacted by the facility’s closure. Full shuttering of the union facility is expected April 23. In 1928, Marshall Field established the Karastan brand and the Eden facility to manufacture rugs for his chain of department stores. Sales eventually expanded to other retailers as part of the Fieldcrest family of household products. ....
