Twenty-one miles of Highway 1 in the Big Sur area reopened Friday following the completion of repairs at a point north of Gorda, Caltrans District 5 said in a press release.

Just when the Bay Area was enjoying a sunny weekend respite, news of more soggy days to come arrived to break the spell. Forecasters expect light rain and gusty winds to persist into the week after making a return around midday Monday. Warmer conditions then are expected to dry out the region.
