we start with a troubling landmark for the climate as 2023 smashes the record, for the world s hottest year ever recorded. european scientists say, that 2023 left the records tumbling like dominoes . the average global temperature in the past 12 months was 14.98 degrees. that beats the previous hottest year set in 2016 by 0.17 degrees. the announcement was made by the eu s climate change service. and the met office in the uk believes this record could be short lived, as their forecasts suggest 2024 could be even hotter. earlier, i spoke to our climate editor, justin rowlatt, who told me that record was broken by some margin. yeah, it is interesting, isn t it? the margin, as you say, was 0.17 celsius. you might say, well, that doesn t sound very much to me, but remember, this is a global average, an average across the entire globe day and night across the entire year, and normally scientists say they expect it to be broken by a tiny fraction of a degree, 0.01, 0.02, not

Own goalfrom joel matip. Not as a manager of liverpool, so much more as a football person, i think the only outcome should be a replay. That is how it is. It would happen again. I think a replay would be the right thing to do or the referee has the opportunity to bring both coaches together and say, sorry, we made a mistake, but we can sort it. And we start from there. Champions League Football will return to St James Park for the first time in 20 years later, as eddie howe s newcastle take on paris st germain. Reconsider how they move the irs into this century, then it could be a better conversation starter. we know wait times have improved. regular taxpayers have had a terrible time the past few years trying to get through with just simple questions so we know that that has improved. we also know that the big pot of money that almost everybody agrees there is a lot of money that goes uncollected because the irs just lax the enforcement ability. so that is another piece of that puzzle, right? every dollar you spend investing in the irs is money that you are receiving to help cut debt and deficits, right? yes. if the irs can use it effectively, if they have the right hiring authority, if they can find the people to hire, we re talking about a very specialized talent pool, that was going to be challenging for the irs anyway. now, the rescission does add an element of uncertainty to their long term plans which is not ideal. but if we re at a stable point
