Unitedhealthcare. welcome back to early start. we re going to return to flight 370 coverage in just a moment. first, the search for survivors continues this morning after that deadly washington state mudslide. it is growing more grim by the hour. fire officials now believe up to 24 people are dead. scores are still missing. investigators admitting chances of finding anyone else alive are pretty slim. i want you to listen to this 911 call, it comes from the moment right after the landslide began. followed by the fire chief s sobering assessment of the devastation. it s a big mudslide. all i see is dirt now. we watched hundreds of trees come down. i m on sea post road. highway 530. are there any injuries? ....
it was like the heavens opened up. it just constant. it didn t stop. it didn t stop. big mudslide came down and got us all stuck. it was over there and the water started coming in. well, the rains have also washed trash, pesticides and bacteria into waterways prompting health warnings and closing miles of local beaches down that part of the state. now, the storm system which has brought so much misery to southern california is now moving inland. there the rain is turning to snow. it s piling up by the foot in sierra nevada mountains and this same storm system could create quite a mesfor the rest of the country over the christmas holiday weekend. todd santos is here with the forecast. i was looking behind you and i thought, is that feet? you could change it to feet. especially as far as the rainfall totals out of california, especially in the mountain, that s where you ve seen a lot of these numbers, double-digit numbers and i placed a couple of them on ....
