A top official with the Republican Attorneys General Association (RAGA) resigned on Monday amid controversy over a robocall that had urged listeners to march on the Capitol on Wednesday.
NBC News reported that the board chairman of the group s fundraising arm, the Rule of Law Defense Fund (RLDF), confirmed the resignation of RAGA Executive Director Adam Piper.
Every decision Adam made on behalf of RLDF was with the best of intentions and with the organization’s best interests in mind, said Steve Marshall, head of the Rule of Law Defense Fund.

Republicans block 25th Amendment resolution to oust Trump

“Speaker Pelosi should not attempt to adopt a resolution of this magnitude without any debate on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives. It is wrong to have sent members of Congress home and then try to adopt without any debate a precedent-setting resolution that could imperil our Republic,” Mooney said in a statement.
“The U.S. House must never adopt a resolution that demands the removal of a duly elected president, without any hearings, debate or recorded votes.”
After the exchange on the floor, Hoyer told reporters that the full House will vote on the rule for the resolution Tuesday and vote for final passage on Tuesday evening. That would force Republicans to go on record three times opposing the 25th Amendment resolution, Democrats said. ....

Democrats, GOP face defining moments after Capitol riot

Wednesday’s mob attack endangered lawmakers, staff, members of the press and a beleaguered Capitol Police force that was badly outnumbered.
One police officer died after being hit with a fire extinguisher, and a woman who was part of the mob was shot and killed as she tried to reach the Speaker’s lobby just outside the House floor.

This week: Democrats barrel toward Trump impeachment after Capitol attack

“In protecting our Constitution and our Democracy, we will act with urgency, because this President represents an imminent threat to both,” Pelosi wrote. “As the days go by, the horror of the ongoing assault on our democracy perpetrated by this President is intensified and so is the immediate need for action.”
Pelosi, who was personally targeted by some members of the pro-Trump mob in Wednesday’s insurrection, said Democrats will try to adopt Maryland Democratic Rep. Jamie Raskin
If that fails, Democrats will bring it to the floor on Tuesday as they try to push for Pence, who was also a target for the rioters, to respond within 24 hours. Democrats, and some Republicans, are supportive of Pence invoking the 25th Amendment, which would allow the VP and a majority of the Cabinet to sideline Trump.  ....
