My thoughts on why impeachment is necessary

Many are calling for Trump’s impeachment after the Capitol attack last Wednesday that left five people dead and many others injured. Some rioters are self-proclaimed supporters of QAnon conspiracy theories. 
“Allowing President Trump to walk away, validates messianic conspiracy theories and disinformation,” Riggleman tweeted. “If there is no accountability for POTUS & allies pushing radical conspiracies, those who believe Trump is the ordained protector will believe the conspiracies true, that he had so much evidence against evil-doers they would not convict him.” ....

Mo Brooks defends comments at pro-Trump rally after 'vicious and scurrilous' attacks


In the statement, Brooks attacked critics who have accused him of inciting the mob with his speech, in which he exhorted the crowd to “start taking down names and kicking ass.”
“[T]his entire smear campaign is about intimidating, censoring and suppressing the ability of American citizens to fight at the ballot box the efforts of Socialist Democrats to seize control of the United States of America,” Brooks said in the statement, invoking both Martin Luther King Jr. and the Gospel of John in his defense.

Brooks went on to claim that the rioters “did a great disservice to our cause and America” and “destroy[ing] two months of debate and work. His statement was titled Congressman Mo Brooks Rebuts Vicious & Scurrilous Fake News Media and Socialist Democrat Attacks. ....

Trump's legacy is discord and division


The bright light that shined in Georgia on Tuesday descended into darkness across the nation the next day, when the armed, attempted takeover of the Capitol took place. Unfortunately, the air will not automatically clear by the time Biden takes the oath of office next week.
The day that lived in infamy lasted the rest of the week.
The next day, a record number of  Americans 4,000 died of COVID-19. Friday, the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) announced that 140,000 Americans lost their jobs last week, which is the first decline in jobs since the early stage of the pandemic in April.  ....
