Where smokers draw flavored tobacco through an ancient style water pipe is on the rise. a university study published in pediatrics reveals a whopping 18% of high school seniors are now using hooka. and hanging out in hooka lounges. but why? i think it s somewhere to go when there s nowhere else to go. something different to do. because a lot of people don t really do it. until they get into their teen years. it s relaxing. it s like you re hanging out and you smoke it, and you just relax. you don t get high or anything. reporter: hooka is a social event where smokers share. many of those polls say they believe hooka is safer than cigarettes. however, it is a myth as old as the hooka itself that the water somehow filters the tobacco. the charcoal adds more carcinogens, there s more tar ....
Months. a new study finds teens may be replacing one addiction with another. while there s been a sharp decline in smoking cigarettes among teens, there are now other teens taking up the hooka. nearly one in five high school seniors admitted to using a hooka device to smoke a nicotine containing herb. it s apparently more common in more affluent households. interesting. now to a heart-warming story about someone doing the right thing. and it is our favorite story of the day. a shopper in a women s apparel store noticed she lost the 3.5 carat diamond from her ring. the gem was valued at $40,000. store employees looked all over for the stone. by closing they hadn t found it. the next day a sparkle caught the eye of barbara. she called the customer and reunited her with the diamond. she says, she just doesn t take something that doesn t belong to her. she doesn t feel right doing ....
Investigation with the girl that disappeared, indiana university and when i went there on a thursday and friday night when i saw the over drinking, drug using, overdosing, it s like every weekend. they prep themselves up all year long and when they hit spring break it s worse. it s very prevalent in our colleges and this is a real issue and i have a son in college and i believe it or not they got word the other day, i drove up there four and a half hours and knocked on the door and hooka is the new thing. they smoke hooka. tobacco but it worries you. i went to auburn university in the south and spring break was huge for us, as i m sure if many of you here. your parents, once you re 18 you go off to college, they can t be there holding your hand. what is next? education. educating people on the dangers of mixing drugs, mixing alcohol together and also enforcing laws ....
