Assam elections: The state with the worst gender-based violence gets a women’s manifesto

Assam has reported the highest rate of crimes against women among all states and Union Territories for the last three consecutive years for which official data are available. There has been a marked increase in three categories of crimes against women – domestic violence, kidnapping and molestation – from 2016 to 2019, according to National Crime Records Bureau
