Farmers ring bells, beat plates to protest against farms laws during PM Modi's address

Many farmers protesting against the new farm laws banged plates, rang bells in Noida during Prime Minister Narendra Modi s speech.
The beating of plates, ringing of bells amid sloganeering against the government for not repealing the three new laws was done at the Dalit Prerna Sthal in Noida to convey farmers dissatisfaction , a Bharatiya Kisan Union (Lok Shakti) functionary said, news agency PTI reported.
Today again, PM Modi did apne mann ki baat (spoke his own mind) and did not listen to kisanon ke mann ki baat (farmers point of view). Farmers are demanding that the new laws should be repealed and the MSP (minimum support price) for crops be made a law, BKU (Lok Shakti) spokesperson Shailesh Kumar Giri was quoted as saying by PTI. ....

Days after the Haryana police booked 13 protesting farmers on charges of attempt to murder and rioting, the Shiv Sena on Friday said that the governments in Haryana and Centre should keep in mind that the farmers’ agitation cannot be stopped by filing false cases.
An editorial in party mouthpiece Saamana said that the government made every effort to discredit the farmers’ agitation by terming them Khalistani and alleging China and Pakistan hand in the protests. “While the World Farmers’ Day was being celebrated on Wednesday, the BJP government in Haryana declared the farmers as murderers. The governments in Haryana and Centre should keep in mind that the farmers’ agitation can be stopped by filing false cases,” said the editorial. ....

Thousands of farmers from western Uttar Pradesh gathered in Noida on Thursday on the call of the Kisan Sena, a farmers union supporting the new farm laws, even as the Bharatiya Kisan Union (Lok Shakti) which is demanding withdrawal of the legislations dubbed this farmers faction as Jaichand after the 12th century ruler came to be known for treason and treachery. The Kisan Sena supporters, which included members from Agra, Mathura, Hathras, Mainpuri, Firozabad, Meerut and Muzaffarnagar, among other districts, remained on the road at the Mahamaya Flyover in Noida during the afternoon before they all returned to their hometowns. ....

Government again writes to farmer unions inviting them for next round of talks
The Centre on Thursday once again invited farmer unions for the next round of talks over new agri laws. Joint Secretary of Ministry of Agriculture, Vivek Agarwal sent a letter to the unions wherein he stated that the government is ready to discuss all issues regarding new farm laws. 
The fresh communication from the government s end comes a day after farmers in a written reply stated that they want a complete repeal of the laws. The government has asked the farmer unions to decide the date and time for the discussions, which will be held in Vigyan Bhavan.   ....
