Mumbai: The Aurangabad bench of the Bombay High Court of Justices Ravindra Ghuge and Bhalachandra Debadwar on Wednesday, while hearing a public interest litigation on faulty ventilators supplied to the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) at Aurangabad, told the central government that it will be held responsible if the use of such ventilators resulted in any casualty.
The bench recorded this after chief public prosecutor DR Kale submitted a report which stated that a group of 21 experts which included members from the manufacturer Jyoti CNC, Rajkot, supplier Hindustan Latex Limited, Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation, Director General of Health Services AIIMS, Nagpur, had examined the ventilators and had found it faulty on multiple counts. ....

'Could be life-threatening': Bombay HC seeks explanation from Centre over 150 faulty ventilators sent to Aurangabad under PM CARES fund


On Tuesday, when the matter came up before the bench, D R Kale, the chief public prosecutor told the judges about the dysfunctional ventilators provided by the Union government under the PM CARES fund.
As per Kale, a total of 150 ventilators were supplied by the Union to the authorities in Aurangabad district. He submitted that a company - Jyoti CNC has manufactured these 150 ventilators with the model name ‘Dhaman III’.
Of these 150 ventilators, 17 were put to use in the government medical college and hospital Aurangabad, all of which had six flaws in total.
Noting the flaws, the bench noted, Each of these flaws would impact the treatment process of the patients. Two appear to be extremely serious flaws pertaining to ‘no in-let O2 pressure’ display and ‘patient becoming hypoxic’ when on ventilator. These could be life-threatening. ....

Free treatment for mucormycosis under MJPJAY, private hospital charges to be capped: Maharashtra govt tells HC

A bench of Justices Ravindra Ghuge and Bhalachandra Debadwar have been hearing a suo motu petition pertaining to COVID-19 crisis in the Marathwada region of Maharashtra. In an earlier hearing the bench had taken cognizance of the spurt in mucormycosis cases and the issues related to the disease.
On Monday when the matter was called out, the state prosecutor told the bench that it has been decided to include mucormycosis under the Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Jan Arogya Yojna (MJP JAY) scheme that provides free treatment to poor people. ....

The Aurangabad bench of the Bombay High Court ordered on Wednesday that no politician, Minister or people’s representative will hold any public function till the lockdown restrictions are lifted.
A division bench of Justices Ravindra Ghuge and Bhalachandra Debadwar passed the order after it was brought to its notice that Maharashtra’s Cabinet Minister for Employment Guarantee & Horticulture, Sandipanrao Bhumre, held a series of public functions recently in his constituency in Paithan where people gathered in large numbers and most of them, including the Minister himsel ....
