As per police sources, the ill-fated vehicle bearing temporary registration number was on its way to Batote from Doda, when the driver lost control over the vehicle and it plunged into Raggi Nallah on Batote-Doda-Kishtwar highway in Doda district today evening, resulting into on the spot death of five persons. ....
JAMMU: A toddler cheated death by a whisker even as five of her family died in a road accident in Batote area in J&K’s mountainous Doda district late Monday. She was initially reported missing but was later found alive at the accident spot. Police said the family from Ganika village in Doda town was on its way from Doda to Batote when their vehicle went out of control and rolled into a 250ft-deep gorge at Ragi Nullah, about 20km from Doda town, around 7.15pm. On receiving information, cops and locals began a rescue operation and recovered five bodies from the site. The deceased were identified as Rakesh Kumar Bhagat, Chander Rekha, Ajit Singh, his son Ishan, and Bhag Devi. ....
