Phipps
SAN ANTONIO – If it were up to Commissioner Trish DeBerry, Bexar County would drop Martin Phipps – releasing the attorney completely from his representation of the county in a $1 billion opioid lawsuit.
Phipps was arrested earlier this month on suspicion of telephone harassment following a complaint made by his ex-wife.
Over the past year, Phipps’ partners have abandoned his law firm one by one, causing a slew of name changes. The latest departure was made by T.J. Mayes last month. Mayes, the former chief of staff for Bexar County Judge Nelson Wolf, had joined the firm back in October.
Phipps
SAN ANTONIO – When Bexar County snubbed a statewide opioid settlement back in June, it placed all its eggs, all 1 billion of them, in the hands of its attorneys, one of which is Martin Phipps, who was arrested yesterday.
According to
San Antonio Express News, Phipps was arrested on suspicion of telephone harassment following a complaint involving a woman from a previous romantic relationship.
Just last month, Phipps partner, T.J. Mayes, bailed on him, trashing him on Twitter before leaving the firm.
“I resigned from the Phipps firm on 1/11 after I became convinced without a shred of doubt that Martin Phipps is a crook and a serial abuser of women,” Mayes Tweeted. “I turned over appropriate documents to the relevant regulatory agencies.”
SAN ANTONIO – A marketing firm is claiming Martin Phipps’ law firm owes hundreds of thousands of dollars.
In the span of two years, Phipps changed the name of his law firm three times – Phipps Anderson Deacon, Phipps Deacon Purnell and the more recent Phipps Mayes.
On Jan. 28, MG Marketing filed a suit naming all three of them as defendants.
Phipps may be looking to change the firm’s name yet again, as T.J. Mayes left Phipps Mayes last month.
Not long after leaving, Mayes, the former chief of staff for Bexar County Judge Nelson Wolf, trashed his former partner on Twitter, calling Phipps a “crook” and “serial abuser of women.”
