The South Canterbury Lily Society’s show in Timaru on Saturday has a double purpose. The first intention is to exhibit for the public and hold competitions, while it was also being planned as a way to promote the society and recruit new members. “We’re trying to promote the show because we need new members,’’ society publicity spokesman David Attwood said. “We ve got our usual lilies, but we’ve also got the iris society with dahlias, a fellow with carnivorous plants, and we will have an information table about the society and information about how to grow lilies.”
