The pedestrian was not in a marked crosswalk and the driver was driving drunk. We are still seeing an epidemic on our roadways. Were seeing people die in record numbers and they dont need to be happening. This is the 14th fatal crash in metros jurisdiciton this year. Just this past week. Local Law Enforcement wanted to stress the importance of street safety. They dressed as a heart. And waled across the roads. The idea was to make drivers and pedestrians aware of their surroundings and people to use crosswalks. One year ago tammy meyers. Was gunned down in front of her home. Meyers took her daughter out for a late night driving lesson. She was killed in a shootout in front of her home. The case gripped headlines across the nation. The murder. Bernard B. White, 92, of Carthage, TX, passed away on Monday evening, Feb. 8, 2021, in Carthage. He was born on Feb. 1, 1929, in Mt. Pleasant, TX to the late Morris S. and Josie Moore White. Mr. White graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School with the class of 1947, and attended Texas State Teacher’s College in Commerce. He married Dorothy Marie Howell on Aug. 11, 1951, in Bellville, IL and they celebrated 67 years together before she preceded him in death on Jan. 7, 2019. Mr. White served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War from 1950-1954 at which time he was honorably discharged. He worked as a Wireline Engineer for Welex, a division of Haliburton, until his retirement. Bernard was a hamm radio operator, enjoyed fishing and camping, and was a member of the Avion Trailer Club. Mr. White moved to Carthage in 2013, from Katy, TX where he had lived for 34 years. He was of the Baptist faith. Mr. White was also preceded in death by a daught
