Marion woman celebrating 100th birthday with car parade
Ten years ago, Charlotte Buckland celebrated her 90th birthday.
Her family planned a surprise party at her church in Kenton, with family members coming in from Kentucky, New Jersey and Florida.
That was when Buckland confessed to her grandson-in-law that this was the first birthday party she s ever had. He responded by saying the family will throw another party when she turns 100. Well, I sure hope you all live that long, her great-granddaughter Carrie R. recalls Buckland saying.
Ten years later and Buckland is still standing. The Marion resident will turn 100 years old Monday. But unfortunately due to the coronavirus pandemic, there will be no party this year.
