Chicago-based Green Thumb Industries, a cannabis company that operates in 12 states, reported $194.4 million in revenue for the first quarterâa 90% increase year-over-year due to increased demand. Ben Kovler, the CEO and founder of Green Thumb Industries, says understanding what drove the companyâs growth is not difficult. âAmerican consumers want more weed,â says Kovler. âItâs simple.â ....
Opportunity amid the Green Rush has not been shared equally. According to a Marijuana Business Dailysurvey, 4.3% of marijuana business owners and founders are Black, compared with the 81% that are white. Enter Al Harrington s Viola Brands. Since founding Viola Brands in 2011, Harrington, a former NBA player, has been at the forefront of the conversation around racial equity in the cannabis industry.
