After a fierce battle with glioblastoma, Bobby Bishop Jr. departed for Heaven on Saturday, Feb. 20, 2021, where he was reunited with his mother, Nyokia Taylor Bishop, mother-in-law, Juanita Skidmore Baker; and countless other family and loved ones.
Bobby grew up in Benton, spending his younger years working in the family grocery store and playing baseball a sport he loved and played well as often as possible.
He earned his bachelor’s degree in business, with an accounting concentration, at UTC. Bobby passed the CPA exam on the first sitting, earning the highest score in the state of Tennessee, and the 21st highest score in the nation. He then went on to earn his law degree from UTK. ....

Jerry M. Cox, 80, of the Benton Station Community, passed away peacefully on Monday, Feb. 15, 2021, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on October 2, 1940, to the late J.T. and Pauline Wilson Cox in Old Fort. In addition to his parents, J.T. and Pauline Cox, he was preceded in death by his brother, Cleo Cox.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 59 years, Iva Burns Cox; loving children: Mitchell K. Cox and Tommy Cox and his wife, Sonja; grandsons: Bailey and Brody Cox; sister-in-law, Dot Cox; and several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life graveside service will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 19, 2021, at Benton Memorial Gardens, with Pastor Jimmy Parm and Pastor Floyd Boggess officiating. ....
