Environmental groups are revving up opposition to the first company to take advantage of Western Australia lifting its fracking ban, despite traditional owners supporting the venture.
Bennett Resources, owned by Texan company Black Mountain, wants its Valhalla gas prospect in the Kimberley to eventually supply the export market, or the energy-hungry east coast market, potentially via the $5 billion east-west pipeline long-mooted yet still unsupported by governments.
Environs Kimberley says it has organised more than 3000 public submissions opposing the project in the 7-day comments period that closed on Wednesday. ....
