When Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, dubbed his Rivers State counterpart, Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, Mr. Project, he was focused on effective communication rather than minding the political sensitivities of his fellow party faithful in Rivers State. It was perhaps out of his desire to have other voices confirm or controvert Fayemi’s observations that Governor Wike brought eminent political leaders in the country to perform the ribbon-cutting ceremonies for projects completed by his administration.

AN elder statesman and Second Republic senator, Benneth Birabi, has said there was about two billion barrels of oil sitting idle in Ogoni land, Rivers State.
Birabi, who is the Chairman, ‘Gbo Kabari Ogoni’, which means Ogoni Elders’ Forum, said the Ogoni people were running out of time as far as oil production stopped there in 1993 as a result of the exit of oil giant Shell from the area.
Birabi stated this at an event; ‘Ogoni Petroleum Summit’, put together by the Pan Ogoni magazine with the theme, ‘Politics of petroleum in Nigeria: the Ogoni experience’ held in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital.
