Greensboro, N.C. Page last saw the hardwood on Feb. 27 in Charlotte. The Pirates were defeated 57-16 by (2) Olympic, an eventual 4A western regional finalist, in the second round. Those returning players are vying to get back to work for improvement on a campaign that went above some expectations.
The 2019-20 season featured much change for the varsity boys basketball team that plays home games inside Mac Morris Gymnasium. Page finished 16-12, while going 4-4 in Metro 4A Conference play. The Pirates played for a conference tournament title before falling against Northwest Guilford (74-60), then was an 18-seed in the 4A playoffs prior to bowing out in the second round. Grimsley looks to carry over momentum from last season's 18 wins

Greensboro, N.C. Grimsley opened a lot of eyes in the Triad area during the 2019-20 season by nearly surpassing the 20-win plateau and later earning a ticket to the third round of the 4A state playoffs.
Prior to last winter, the Whirlies had finished three-straight seasons with 15-or-more losses by going 7-18, 12-15, and 12-15. Those records came under Thomas Griffis, who was not retained as head boys basketball coach following the 2018-19 season. He won 78 games over seven years, including going 16-9 and taking Metro 4A coach of the year honors for the team’s 2015-16 campaign. A very familiar leader was hired by principal Ged O’Donnell and athletic director Ethan Albright to fill the coaching vacancy. ....
