At 8pm eastern on american History Tv. 2022 marks the bicentennial of the birth of Frederick Law olmstead the Landscape Architect who designed many of the most notable urban parks in the United States over 100 years from the 1850s to about 1960. He and then the olmstead firm. He founded completed thousands of landscape projects next Landscape Architect. Lori olin tells the story of Frederick Law Olmsteds Career and the work of the olmsted firm culminating in a discussion of the creation and current status of Fdr Park in philadelphia. The pennsylvania horticultural society provided the video and cohosted this event with a national association for olmsted parks as part of olmsted 200 a wideranging bicentennial initiative. around the world, i m john berman in highland, park, illinois, about 25 miles north of chicago. brianna keilar in new york this morning. behind me is the scene where now 24 hours ago six people were killed in a fourth of july parade. another 25 injured. and you can see the street behind me, it s a moment frozen in time. it was 10:15 a.m. where a shooter opened fire from a rooftop two blocks hence. but you can see the streets here littered with the beach chairs, towels, i see a frisbee, a beach ball, frozen in time, where people fled in every direction when they heard dozens of gunshots ring out from that roof. now, police say the shooter got to the roof from a back alley using a ladder, they called the shooting intentional, but random. now, eight hours after the shooting itself police did apprehend a person they re calling a person of interest. they also called this 22-year-old man a suspect. they got him after a short police chase. police got him on a road about five miles f
now in custody. police called the attack random and intentional. it is difficult, but important to hear the moment that gunfire erupted to begin to understand the terror that people faced. i ll warn you, the video we re about to see is disturbing. lord help us. personally i witnessed bursts of gunfire like that before, but only from u.s. military firing positions, while embedded with u.s. forces in iraq and afghanistan. that was on an american street. yeah. and those bullets left a number injured as we mentioned, and dead. the injured ranging in age from 8 to 85 years old. dr. david baum was there as the gunfire erupted, saw the immediate aftermath, and jumped in to help. the people who were gone were blown up by that gunfire. blown up? blown up. blown up. the horrific scene of some of the bodies is unspeakable for the average person. those are war time injuries. those are what are seen in victims of war, not victims at a parade. now sadly they are seen in victims
dozens others hospitalized. police are calling this attack on paradegoers both random and intentional. i do want to warn you, some of the video you re about to see is disturbing. it sounded like a string of firecrackers going off inside of a metal trash bin. that s what i thought it was. 20, 30, maybe. i just grabbed my dad and we ran and suddenly everyone was running behind us. and people were just shot behind us. there was a girl just dead. another man was shot in the ear, blood all over his face. you look down and you saw just people screaming, you saw people on the ground. and i think the instinct is of a physician to not run away. some of the bodies were there was an evisceration injury from the power of this gun. and the bullets. there was another person who had an unspeakable head injury. these are the bullets in guns that 18-year-olds have a right to shoot down on a parade in the sleepy little community july 4th parade. if you re angry today, i m here to t
