David Newhouse, who led The Patriot-News and PennLive to a Pulitzer Prize for breaking the Jerry Sandusky scandal at Penn State, died Thursday after a 14-year battle with leukemia. He was 65.
During his tenure, the newsroom uncovered political scandals at the state capital that landed some of the most powerful politicians and their associates in jail. The Patriot-News and PennLive also published journalism that freed several innocent Black men from prison who had been wrongly convicted and jailed for decades.
