Although Covid-19 restrictions meant a dearth of organised New Year Dooks this year, many hardy souls still took to the water across Tayside and Fife to start 2021 afresh.
The typically busy Loony Dooks at Kirkcaldy and Kinghorn were both postponed until a later date, but that did not stop a number of people from braving the Firth of Forth nonetheless at locations up and down the coast. ....

Fifers recognised in New Year Honours list

People in Fife are among those being recognised in the New Year Honours list.
Across Scotland, a variety of people have been honoured for the help they have provided to others during the coronavirus pandemic.
Well known names have also been recognised across the UK, including seven time Formula 1 world champion Lewis Hamilton, who is being knighted.
Meanwhile, in the Kingdom, 83-year-old David Adamson from Burntisland is getting a British Empire Medal.
It s for services to athletics and to the community in the town.
David was Chieftain for the Burntisland Highland Games for more than a decade.
He also opened that event as Honorary Chieftain on a couple of occasions. ....

FROM Friday, families and friends can now visit their loved ones in care homes. Over the past few months, care home staff in Fife have been supporting residents to keep connected via phone and face time calls, while in-person visits were suspended. Lochgelly and Cardenden councillor, Rosemary Liewald, chair of Fife’s Integration Health and Social Care Joint Board, visited the Lindsay House Care Village, in Lumphinnans, to thank them and those all over the local area and county for their efforts over the past few months. The Cardenden councillor said: “I would like to say a huge thank you to all Fife’s care home staff – they have been amazing throughout this period.” ....
