In their first meeting at Olympia on Jan. 29, the Titans overcame a 13-point deficit in the third quarter to force overtime, but a 10-0 run by Dr. Phillips proved to be the difference as they won 51-43. The two teams met again at Olympia on Feb. 12 in the Class 7A, District 3 championship game. This time, the Panthers had to overcome a four-point deficit in the game’s final minute to force overtime. Share A broken backboard on a dunk by Ernest Udeh Jr. led to the Panthers finishing off their win down the road at Olympia High. by: Photos by Troy Herring, Story by Nate Marrero After Ernest Udeh Jr. shattered the backboard at Dr. Phillips with 7:37 left in the 1st half, the Dr. Phillips Panthers shattered the Oviedo Lions playoff hopes, outscoring them 53-11 for the remainder of the game en route to a 67-21 win in the Class 7A, Region 1 quarterfinals. When Udeh demolished the backboard, Dr. Phillips was up 14-10 in the 2nd quarter. The rest of the game took place at Olympia High School and play resumed following an hour and five minute delay. Udeh missed the remainder of the game after having to get stitches on his leg. ....
