The adventures of Buddy the beefalo
A “highly aggressive,” 1,000-pound steer that escaped from a processing plant is reported to be on the loose in northwestern Connecticut, according to police. A cross between a bison and domestic cattle called a beefalo, the missing steer reportedly escaped a nearby animal processing facility in early August. It was last spotted by police on Aug. 26 near the Route 72 travel lanes. Residents are urged to not approach the animal if they see it.

“Buddy” the beefalo, a 1,000-pound bull that escaped from a slaughterhouse, is still alive and wandering in the woods in northwest Connecticut. The beefalo, named “Buddy” by Plymouth police, appears in good health despite reports earlier in the week of the bull being shot and killed in Bristol. GRAND RAPIDS, MI Amid the coronavirus pandemic, Grand Rapids reached an unenviable milestone with the most homicides for a year in its history.
The Dec. 6 shooting death of a 23-year-old man was the city’s 35th homicide, one more than the 34 homicides in 1993. Last year, there were 18 homicides.
All but eight victims of this year’s killings were from gunfire.
Local authorities say they believe the COVID-19 pandemic is playing a role, partly because of a lack of programs and structured activities that are temporarily unavailable. ....
