Bellaire Salvation Army's COVID outbreak resolved | News, Sports, Jobs

BELLAIRE After battling several cases of COVID-19 in its homeless shelter, the Belmont County Salvation Army says it is now free of the virus.
The Salvation Army, based in Bellaire, noted recently on its Facebook page that things were getting back to normal.
“A few weeks ago we announced that we had 12 cases of COVID-19 in our shelter. Many people prayed for us and we thank you for your prayers. We are currently COVID-19 free. Praise the Lord and we give Him all the glory,” the army said on its page.
The Salvation Army also thanked the First United Methodist Church in Bellaire for providing meals to the shelter to help those living there during their lockdown. ....

Food giveaways restart today in Bellaire | News, Sports, Jobs

BELLAIRE Food giveaways to anyone in need are restarting at the Belmont County Salvation Army, 315 37th St., with the first slated to take place today.
According to information posted on the Salvation Army Facebook page, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Farmers to Families Food Box program has entered into a new contract with Van Solkema Produce.
“They are delivering the product from Michigan and the delivery times may get delayed. Please be patient if delays occur. We are praying for an on-time delivery,” the Salvation Army said on its Facebook page.
Social service agencies, churches and senior centers will get first priority starting at 9 a.m. The drive-through giveaway for everyone else begins at 11 a.m. ....

ST. CLAIRSVILLE The Ohio Valley Mall will not be extending its hours of operation this weekend for its “Super Saturday” event due to COVID-19 restrictions. Yet there will be a variety of entertainment and giveaways available for shoppers.
Joe Bell, spokesman for the mall’s parent company Cafaro Co., said because of Ohio’s 10 p.m. curfew, the mall is unable to extend its hours for the year’s busiest shopping day. The mall will be open for its holiday hours of 10 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Saturday. ....
