Judge-Exec. proposes establishing fund


The Pavilion at the former OLBH is seen. 
The Greenup County Fiscal Court met for its regular meeting in April to discuss both old and new business.
Old business consisted mainly of paying bills, and new business included a proposal by County Judge-Executive Robert Carpenter of establishing a fund with a portion of the money the county received through sale of the Bellefonte Pavilion property.
Carpenter initially proposed that $1 million be set back in a fund accessible to the Industrial Development Authority to be used to help new businesses set up on the Industrial Parkway.
The nominated John McGinnis, Chairman of the Industrial Development Authority, said the first thing that should be done is to determine the locations available. ....

UPDATE: KDMC to purchase Pavilion for $3M


The Pavilion at the former OLBH is seen. 
King’s Daughters Health System is set to purchase the Bellefonte Pavilion for $3 million. According to KDMC, the move will result in relocating 300 jobs and creating 150 new jobs.
The Greenup Fiscal Court opened sealed bids on Monday for purchase of the Pavilion. The special meeting was called, not because of the bids, but because one of the court members had previously communicated to the court that they would not be able to attend the regularly scheduled court meeting.
Two bids were offered for the pavilion building and all property involved with it — the property was donated to Greenup County by Bon Secours Health System. It was declared surplus in December. ....

Deciding the future of Bellefonte Pavilion

The Greenup County Fiscal Court called a special meeting on Tuesday to discuss future plans for the Bellefonte Pavilion.
The Pavilion was recently granted to Greenup County by Mercy Hospital, and Greenup County Judge-Executive Robert Carpenter said that he wanted to publicly thank them for the great gift.
“I believe it is good for the county and a way to begin our economic development and get some jobs back in the county,” Carpenter said.
County Attorney Mike Wilson said that, from the standpoint of a citizen of Greenup County, he appreciated what the county was doing. ....
