Jun 1, 2021 2021 Hurricane Season Begins; Names for the Storms Released As all Belizeans know, June first marks the beginning of the hurricane season which runs until November thirty-first each year.  While Belize has always tended to be most threatened by hurricanes that form late in the season, tropical cyclones are possible at any time of the year.  The Belize Met Service has released the names which will be used to identify these systems in 2021.  Predictions are it will be an above average season for storm activity throughout the Atlantic Basin which includes the North Atlantic Ocean, Caribbean Sea and Gulf of Mexico. The prediction is for there to be thirteen to twenty named storms, of those, six to ten are expected to become hurricanes and three to six are expected to become major hurricanes (category three or stronger).
