Fine dust from pulverized rock generated by the Chicxulub impact likely played a dominant role in global climate cooling and the disruption of photosynthesis following the event. This is suggested by a new study published in Nature Geoscience, in which researchers Cem Berk Cenel, Özgür Karatekin, an

ELCHE, Spain (EMXYS PR) EMXYS and the Royal Observatory of Belgium have been selected by the European Space Agency to provide a gravimeter for the Juventas spacecraft that will land on asteroid Dimorphos as part of the European Space Agency’s planetary defence programme.
EMXYS and the Royal Observatory of Belgium will provide the GRASS instrument that will make measurements on the gravity field of the asteroid Dimorphos. The gravimeter is part of the Juventas Cubesat, manufactured by GomSpace Luxemburg, that will land on the asteroid in 2027, after travelling onboard the ESA’s Hera spacecraft to its vicinity. The GRASS will be the first dedicated extraterrestrial gravimeter since the Apollo era and the first ever on an asteroid.
