Chris Smith, author of the updated Belarus Democracy Act, a member of the U.S. House Foreign Affairs Committee, explained the need for this law, golosameriki.com reports.
By passing this bill, Congress recognizes those things that the struggling, courageous people of Belarus have been struggling with since August 9. The recent elections were clearly fraudulent and have no credibility in the international community with anyone other than Lukashenka himself, and possibly Russia, - the congressman said.
