Electricity produced at BelNPP is in demand by the real sector of the
economy and households. It is used to step up the development of
energy-intensive industries, electrify the housing stock, to build new
all-electric apartment houses, and increase the number of electric
vehicles in use.
The parties discussed opportunities for cooperation between the two
countries in the energy sector. Special attention was paid to nuclear
energy. Uzbekistan plans to build its own nuclear power plant. “Belarus’ experience is of interest to us. This is one of the areas where we
could develop our interaction,” the ambassador said.
According to Viktor Karankevich, energy consumption has been on the rise in recent years thanks to the development of electric charging
infrastructure and increasing numbers of electric cars and public
transport in the country.
