Many people are concerned about radiation monitoring within the grounds of the Belarusian nuclear power plant (BelNPP). It is conducted round the clock, Belarusian Energy Minister Viktor Karankevich said in an interview with the Economy of Belarus magazine.
Belarus became the first foreign site where Rosatom State Corporation built a nuclear power plant with water-water reactors (VVER) of generation 3+ with enhanced safety characteristics.
According to the minister, the power grid is ready for it. “If they contact us and specify locations and expected consumption, the power grid will be ready to respond promptly. [The national energy company] Belenergo has not received applications for connecting new installations to the power grid yet,” he added.
