PROGRESS has been made on better schools safety environment zones around Swindon. The borough council launched the scheme last year to improve road safety and congestion issues at schools over the next five years. Work is already underway at most of the schools in the scheme. This includes Tregoze Primary School s new keep clear signs, double and yellow single lines, and slow road markings as well as upgraded zebra crossing beacons. At Beechcroft Infant School, two keep clear markings and no waiting signs have been added and the zebra crossing on Beechcroft Road has been refreshed. Over the next few months, the council aims to complete the rest of the work, with plans to add in flashing amber signs, refresh zebra crossings, add new give-way markings and install new railings.
