Just as the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) has moved to investigate the controversial deaths of Mrs. Peju Ugboma and Ms. Omolara Omoyajowo, the management of Premier Hospital, Victoria Island, Lagos have released a statement.
“The Premier Specialists’ Medical Centre is saddened by the loss of Mrs. Peju Ugboma. We expressed our profound condolence to her husband, children, mother, and the rest of the family.
“We are doing our own internal audits of the events and processes surrounding her demise. While we are committed to protecting the privacy of our patients at all times, we are forced by all concerns of our numerous patients and the comments and speculations in the social media to put out this brief statement. ....

FCCPC to investigate alleged medical unprofessionalism procedures causing two deaths

The Federal Competition & Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) has expressed readiness to commence investigation into medical procedures that led to the death of Mrs Peju Ugboma and Ms Omolara Owoyajowo in Ogun and Lagos States respectively.
Chief Executive of the commission, Babatunde Irukera, in a statement stated that information gathered so far is sufficient for the commission to open an active investigation into these cases.
“As such, the commission has issued Notices of Commencement of Investigation & Summons to Produce (NCISP) to relevant persons/entities.
“The commission is also communicating with the Medical & Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) to expand engagement to the extent that any pertinent conduct may be otherwise unprofessional and, or may be subject of any disciplinary process (if applicable).” ....

Lagos orders probe as Nigerians tackle hospitals over businesswoman, call agent's deaths

Nigerians are demanding justice for a businesswoman, Peju Ugboma, and a Lagos State Emergency Management Agency call centre agent, Omolara Omoyajowo, who both died due to alleged negligence by doctors and nurses at two different private hospitals in Lagos and Ogun states.
However, the Lagos State Health Facility Monitoring and Accreditation Agency said an order had been given for a probe into the circumstances surrounding the death of Peju.
HEFAMAA LASG tweeted,
“The Honorable Commissioner @LSMOH, @ProfAkinAbayomi, had directed @HEFAMMA LASG; the agency charged with the responsibility of accrediting, monitoring, and inspecting all public and private health facilities in the State, to conduct a proper investigation on the occurrence to establish the facts of the matter and ensure #JusticeForPeju with a view to preventing such unfortunate incidents in the future.” ....
