Former North-East Zonal Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Shuaibu Byal, was, on Monday, buried at the Christian Cemetery in Bauchi after a funeral service held at ECWA Church Rafin Zurfi with thousands of sympathisers in attendance.
While speaking at the funeral service of the deceased, former Deputy Governor of Gombe State, John Lazarus Yorio, charged leaders in all spheres of authority to be fair and just to all people irrespective of religion or tribe reminding the congregation that they will one-day face judgement before God. ....

Former CAN Chairman, North-East, Shuaibu Byal, dies at 63

Former Zonal Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), North-East and the Rector, ECWA Theological College, Bayara, Bauchi, Rev Dr Shuaibu Byal has died at the age of 63 barely a few months after he lost his son.
He was said to have slumped and died on Friday evening from suspected cardiac arrest due to a long time sickness he had been battling following a fatal accident he had a few years ago which kept him bedridden for more than one year.
While Confirming the death in an interview with our Correspondent on Saturday, the Academic Dean of ECWA Theological College, Bayara, Rev Matthew Wakili Laslimbo said that he was full of life the morning before he died saying that he was in the school till closing time. ....

The author is on the mark with “Police killings of Black people are lynchings” (Letters, April 17). The Black killings going on in our country are outrageous, and the author is right to call it contemporary lynchings. I have learned there is an Emmett Till Antilynching Act that got passed in the House recently, and has been stalled in the Senate by Sen. Rand Paul. Let us all join together, to get this senator removed from Congress, and send a big message across our country, that these acts by police are not tolerated. We are democracy for all people and our future depends on us working together as one people. So be it. ....

The 15th Mai Tangale, a First Class traditional ruler in Gombe state, Dr Abdu Buba Mausharu, is dead.
Reports monitored in the social media have it that the traditional ruler died in the early hours of Monday in his Palace in Billiri after a brief illness.
Dr Abdu Buba Maisharu was an administrator and traditional ruler, he was born on May 15, 1948, in Poshiya, Billiri LGA of Gombe state.
He attended, Billiri Primary School, 1962-68; Commercial Institute, 1971; Kaduna Polytechnic, 1974-78, he was Clerical asst while in Government of the then North-Eastern State, Maiduguri between 1971-74; Catering asst in Training, Yankari Games Reserve, Bauchi, 1975-76; ag. Hotel Manager Grad II, Bauchi State Wild Life and Hotel Boards. ....
