Bastrop City Council calls May election for Place 2, Place 4 Filing for a place on the ballot began Wednesday and runs through 5 p.m. Feb. 12. Rogers has filed for reelection, according to the city secretary s office. Ennis announced he will not seek reelection. The council on Tuesday, during its first meeting of 2021, also approved contractual agreements to hold a joint election with the Bastrop school district and for election services from the Bastrop County Elections Department. The city will save money by having a joint election, according to City Secretary Ann Franklin, who said the cost to the city for a joint election would be about $16,570 while holding an election alone would cost the city about $24,400. ....
