New Delhi [India], February 25 (ANI/NewsVoir): India's G20 Presidency is an opportune moment to push for the "very strong political signal" to set the ambition expectation for COP28 and the Global Stocktake said Simon Stiell, Executive Secretary, United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) at a High-level Session on COP28 Compass at the World Sustainable Development Summit in New Delhi on Friday. "We are coming to the end of the technical phase of the Global Stocktake. But it is the following phase, the political piece, that requires elevation. It can only be affected by the political will and the support of all parties. New Delhi [India], February 21 (ANI/NewsVoir): The Vice President of Guyana, the COP28-President designate, and the Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate will inaugurate the 22nd edition of the World Sustainable Development Summit (WSDS) hosted by The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) as it opens in New Delhi on Wednesday. Dr Bharrat Jagdeo, Vice President, Guyana will deliver the Inaugural Address and set off the international participation at WSDS which this year is being held on the theme of 'Mainstreaming Sustainable Development and Climate Resilience for Collective Action' from February 22-24, 2023. Urgent State and National Level Action Plans needed to tackle lead poisoning in India: Experts

New Delhi [India], October 11 (ANI/NewsVoir): Drawing attention to the looming global health crisis triggered by lead poisoning, particularly in India, where over 2,30,000 people die annually due to exposure to lead pollution, policymakers, scientists and researchers underscored the need for urgent responses at both the national and state levels to tackle the problem at a seminar on 'Understanding Lead Poisoning Prevalence in India' co-hosted by The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) and Pure Earth in New Delhi on Tuesday. India accounts for 26 per cent of global deaths due to lead exposure every year and 50 per cent of children with elevated blood lead levels globally are found in the country. Lead poisoning is associated with the loss of intelligence up to 5 IQ points.
