Wednesday, June 2, 2021 Thieves rummaging cars in driveways, parking lots Local law enforcement officials from the bi-county area are advising area residents to lock their vehicles no matter where they are parked. Keith We strongly urge people to lock their parked vehicles, said Jay Jastal, with the Monett Police Department. Roll the windows up and remove any valuables from the vehicle. We have people breaking into vehicles in area communities and stealing items, such as credit cards, and using them in Monett. Jackie Lowe, Purdy Police chief, reported three vehicles broken into at Dollar General Store in Purdy within a 24-hour period. ....
Saturday, April 24, 2021 Local law enforcement seeking public assistance on solving cases Crime is on the upswing since the weather is warming, and local law enforcement officials are asking for the publics help in solving some of the misdeeds taking place in the community. In Monett, counterfeit bills are once again circulating, with $100 denominations being passed most often. According to Det. Melissa Phillips, with the Lawrence County Sheriffs Office, a bogus $100 bill was also passed at Caseys General Store in Miller. Thefts and burglaries have really picked up in the last few days, Phillips said. Catalytic converter thefts are up again. We have a suspect and his vehicle on video at a church in Mt. Vernon. We also have a guy who is stealing vehicles, who is connected to similar events in Strafford. He has hit the old Miller School off Hwy. UU twice. We ran the plate on the suspect vehicle, and it came back as stolen from out of Strafford. ....

A Monett woman allegedly tends to participate in the latter, and local law enforcement officials are hoping to curtail her capricious capers soon. Det. Jeff Martinson, with the Monett Police Department, say investigators are seeking the whereabouts of Latosha Keith, 35, of Monett. She is described as standing 5-4 and weighing 216 pounds. She has a tattoo of a cross on her right arm, and a butterfly and flower on her left. Keith, who has been charged with multiple felonies for other crimes, is now wanted on felony warrants in both Barry County and pending felony warrants in Monett. ....
