CHERRY GROVE TOWNSHIP Goodhue County farmer Keith Allen announced that he has filed for the District 3 seat on the Goodhue County Board of Commissioners.
Allen, who represents District 1 on the Minnesota Farm Bureau Board of Directors, serves as a Cherry Grove Township supervisor and the current vice president of Dale Lutheran Church. Additionally, he serves on the Operation Roundup committee for the Goodhue Co-Op Electric board.

RED WING Brad Anderson knows that to be successful as the County Board chair you need to be patient enough to solve puzzles. Anderson told the Republican Eagle after his election to chair for the second time in three years, “many comment county government is the quiet government, implementing the decisions of the federal and state government. Reality is our challenge is fitting all those puzzle pieces together and delivering the programs for county citizens.”

RED WING For the Goodhue County Board, the new year began with the swearing-in of members and the election of chair and vice chair.
Todd Greseth, District 3, was sworn-in for his first term after winning the seat formerly held by Commissioner Barney Nesseth, who decided not to seek reelection after one term.
Commissioner Linda Flanders, District 1, begins her first full term after winning a special election in November 2019 to serve the remaining portion of Commissioner Ron Allen’s term after his death in April 2019.

RED WING Goodhue County Board of Commissioners voted 3-2 to approve a 2.77% increase in the levy on Tuesday.
County staff proposed a property tax levy of $37,899,109 for next year. Commissioner Barney Nesseth made a motion to keep the levy flat, with no increase from 2020, but it ultimately failed by a 2-3 vote. Nesseth and Commissioner Jason Majerus voted in favor. We got a lot of residents in the county who are probably struggling, a lot of my employees are struggling, we have the fund balance to do it,” Nesseth said of his motion.
