NESCOPECK TWP. A fire that burned a vacant two-story building near Barletta Materials quarry along Route 93 early Sunday was intentionally set, officials have determined. A state police fire marshal found the fire likely started at multiple locations on a linoleum floor just inside a rear door, Nescopeck Township Fire Chief Don Hess said.
POTTSVILLE â Schuylkill County transferred $120,000 on Wednesday to enable prison officials to pay for increased employee overtime.
However, the money already is in the budget and will not result in increased overall spending, Director of Finance Paul E. Buber told the commissioners.
âWe did have some (employee) turnover,â Buber said before the commissioners OKâd that and other 2020 budget adjustments.
However, the main cause was the need to send some corrections officers to the state training school, Buber said. The school has reopened after being closed due to the COVID-19/coronavirus pandemic, he said.
âTheir absence led to overtime for others,â Buber said.
